What would be the best place to have a classic car showroom? It should be a historical place, with a nice view, enough space and clients who visit you must be impressed. Well, imagine a place like that and even better; that is where the company Brooklands Cars Ltd. is located.
The name says it all: at the Brooklands circuit. We visited them a few weeks ago and are still drooling away. They are located in the old Members Hill Restaurant building where the rich and famous used to watch races. It is on top of the test hill.
When we drove to their building, we had the pleasure of driving over the banks of the famous Brooklands banks. Walking around with owner Steve Gray, led us to the members bridge where he showed us the place where Clive Dunfee overshot the banking, hit a tree at 130 mph in Big Bentley and passed away instantly.
The whole place breaths history. In the Members Clubhouse you can see a wall full with prizes won with AC-cars.
The showroom of Brooklands Cars Ltd. is packed with AC and Aston Martin cars. Mostly cars of clients that they work on. They started as coachbuilders and you can see the original AC bucks that they used in the factory to make new bodies. At the moment, there are still a lot of bodies ready to put on a car (maybe after Goodwood or any other event where the AC will compete in many races.) But there are also a few stunning cars on display.
Besides the cars that are in the showroom, Steve has the original logbooks of the cars and many other documentation about AC. Truly the place to go to if you are looking for such a car or you need any advise. And at least you can drive on the old banks.
