When Citroën introduced the front-wheel drive H-van or HY in 1947, it was just a replacement for their pre-war TUB. Yet the HY's greater loading space, sliding side and three-piece tailgate made it enormously popular among many groups of people who used it to their advantage: farmers, small-businessmen, the police, the fire-department, the list is endless. And even today, thirty years after Citroën finished production, the HY can still be seen as a true workhorse. Mostly as a mobile shop that sells snacks at car-shows or a coffee-bar as seen here in Brussels. But maybe its most commonly used version of today is the motorhome.
