A70 pleasures in the late forties

Yesterday we visited Frans Vrijaldenhoven, 'nestor' of the Dutch Contact group of Autmotive History, see Conam. Very few people, if any, have a better documented life with cars than he has. His scrapbooks go back to twenties and are more than a pleasure to read. They are about any aspect of motoring life you can imagine and give invaluable insights - quite different from all other literature and documentation. This Austin A70 page speaks for itself. Aged 20 Frans borrowed his fathers A40 for a trip to Copenhagen. Obviously he behaved well - the danish girlfriend depicted above didn't last long however. A few photos later he is taking the same car for a rally "Brabant Grensrit 1949". Now you may say, I have 10 photos of my old car as well. Yet Frans has hundreds of similar pages and shelves full and more shelves filled with scrapbooks of his plus 40 years of motoring life.
