Well, not a single contender had it wrong with last week’s mystery motor! All of you knew that this was the 1949 Bigata Douze, and the vast majority with very accurate answers, so has been difficult to decide about the winner. Wander Van Eck said "It is one of the first cars running on compressed GAS (coal gas or petroleum gas, not GLP)", while Bernard Correge explained us the concrete dimensions of the monster: " 3 meters of hood, 4 meters of wheelbase and 5 meters long". Two of our contenders also included the fact that the car is currently for sale in Spain, but the final winner, with every detail asked in his answer, has been this time Bruno Estibals: "This car is the one made by Georges Bigata, powered by a 12 cylinders Lycoming of 6,4 liters from an Auburn chassis. It can be considered as an hybrid as it can use Gas (it used gas coming from Saint Marcet, extraction site near Bordeaux). Aluminium body was made by Marcel Dassault Industries, the one who actually built the Rafale. To finish, this car won in the Bordeaux Grand Prix in 1949". And this has been the only answer in which was included the "southwestern French street circuit" which we mentioned the last week, where the Bigata Douze won the "Special Category" of flying kilometre. Cheers Bruno!!
