An Austin Sheerline with flowing lines (update: ex Gillet d'Herstal)

Upon seeing this automobile for the time your thoughts must be the same as ours: it's a Delage or Delahaye or a... Whatever it is, the bodywork must be done by someone famous like Saoutchick or maybe Figioni and Falaschi. No doubt about it. No doubt? Wrong on all counts! It's an Austin Sheerline with a body built by Vesters & Neirinck from Brussels, Belgium. Not as well-known as the other two, but a striking design nevertheless. It was built in 1949 and we do love the very period dashboard. The body and paint are still in original condition, which says something of the quality work by Vesters & Neirinck. We saw this Sheerline at Bonhams who will auction it at Zoute in Belgium next Friday. Bonhams advises a paint job and chrome work to make the Austin a Pebble Beach contender; we suggest a wash & shine would do wonders for the unrestored class!
