Back to the roots

The 1920s Austin Seven was such a huge success that Herbert Austin managed to sell his ideas to several other companies. In 1928 Dixi started manufacturing the Seven under licence in Germany (later that year they were taken over by BMW); Rosengart in France was authorized to use the tooling; in the USA the Seven was produced by ‘American Austin’ (later renamed Bantam) and in Japan the 1932 Datsun was largely based on the Austin Seven. To celebrate that in 1928 production of the Dixi started in Eisenach, the German Dixi club invites all owners of Dixi, BMW 3/15, Rosengart and of course the original Austin Seven to attend their big meeting in Eisenach on the first weekend in September.
