Check Frua's second hand waist line

We have always been intrigued by the fact that one designer can influence several models from different marques. Take for instance Pininfarina who designed such 'look-a-likes' as the BMC Farina series, the Peugeot 404 and the Fiat 1800/2200, all quite similar in appearance. But it also happens that a designer makes a prototype for a manufacturer, who rejects it and then the designer sells it to another car factory. One later example is the well-known Citroën BX designed by Bertone, but based on his Volvo Tundra study. Another example is this Renault Caravelle by Frua. It was a further development from the Floride which was introduced in 1958. But earlier Frua had made a design study for BMC for a replacement of the MGA. Check the waist line of both cars, amazing similarity isn't it? By the way this 1967 Renault Caravelle will be auctioned by H&H at their Pavilion Auction on February 16th. Check lot 17.
