PostWarClassic of the week: 1962 Moretti 2300s Cabriolet by Michelotti
What an amazing car came for sale in our online marketplace. This Moretti 2300s Cabriolet is bodied by Michelotti and was first shown at the 1962 Turin Motor Show and nowadays it looks like new. This is due to a very extensive restoration.
Normally we publish part of its history and although that is also given in the advertisement, we prefer to share what has been done to the car:
The body was fully stripped, garnet blasted and zinc phosphate coated before metal work commenced. Once fully prepared, it was finished in Glasurit Ferrari Celeste due to it being very similar to the original colour.
The engine was fully rebuilt with a polished crankshaft, new big end and main bearings, new small ends and new (oe) pistons fitted. The bottom end, including the new clutch, was fully balanced. The cylinder head was rebuilt with unleaded seats and new valves. The carburettors were overhauled and detailed,
The transmission, suspension and brakes were fully rebuilt including servos, callipers and brake pads. The differential was rebuilt with all new bearings and seals and the prop shaft fully balanced.
The interior was fully re-trimmed using almost seven hides.
