Classic Summer Days at Schloss Dyck

Next weekend lots of spectators and participants will gather at Schloss Dyck for the Classic Days. They will be presented with a varied agenda of many events: races on the three kilometre-long circuit around the moated castle; a Concours d’Elegance on the grounds of this site dating back to the 11th century and meetings of several auto clubs at the Miscanthus Field – named after the decorative Chinese reed grass which grows there – which will be transformed for two days into a vast open-air museum with many hundreds of vehicles on show.. One highlight will certainly be the “world’s fastest racing transporter” by Mercedes. Based on the 300 S model, with the engine from the 300 S it had a top speed of 160 to 170 km/h, according to payload. And that payload was mostly the W 196 R from the 1954/1955 era, seen here in streamlined version.
