Daytonas are all too common?

The Daytona is many people’s favourite Ferrari, but don’t think it is super rare. Some 1,400 were made, but if you want one tomorrow, you can have it. They are for sale everywhere. Just have a look in the next few auctions coming up and you’ll find them. We picked out six of them in different flavours.

The black berlinetta is a 1973 car, sold in Germany when new and comes with a red interior (the colour scheme is original), Ferrari Classiche certificate and is said to be the fifth-to-last Daytona built. It is estimated to sell at $575- to $675,000. All details here.

The yellow spyder is also a 1973 car, sold to Michigan when new and it comes with black interior. Again it also comes with Ferrari Classiche certificate and is in its original colours. This one is estimated at $2,2 – to $2,6 million. All details here.

The oddball is a 1971 NART Spider with body by Michelotti. It is said to be the third of five examples built to the order of Luigi Chinetti with this particular car commissioned as a personal car for Chinetti’s wife, Marion. It spent some time in Italy and France, too, but returned to the US and is believed to sell at $600 - to $650,000 now. More details here.

Then we have a yellow berlinetta (top left on main picture), sold new to Bel Air in California in Nocciola over a red leather interior. That’s gone now, but what makes this car perhaps interesting is its low mileage of just 13,000 miles. Also the fact that it comes without a Classiche certificate? Estimate $650 - to $750,000. More details here.

The red Spyder is a converted 1969 car, which started liofe as a berlinetta when it was sold new to the Italian racing team owner Corrado Manfredini, who had a share in Momo steering wheels also. It’s an early car with – according to the seller – plenty of provenance. It comes with an estimate of $650 - to $725,000. More details here.

Last in line is a 1971 berlinetta, according to the auctioneer ‘One of the finest examples in existence and available’. It was only sold new in February 1975 to Santa Monica, California and remained there until the 1990s. There’s no mention of original colours although the interior has been retrimmed quite recently. Estimate: $675 - to $750,000. Mote details here.
