The forthcoming Automobilia Spring Auction in Ladenburg will provide collectors with a genuine alternative to the most extravagant of classic car markets. On 7th and 8th May, this renowned auction house will be auctioning a large quantity of unusual replacement parts for classic cars, including parts from Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. Some complete vehicles will also find their way into this year’s auction. As well as some VW vehicles and a racing car transporter, there will also be a fully-functioning 1:1 replica of the Benz patent motor car, a “must have” for every Mercedes-Benz enthusiast.
This year too, collectors will find a number of unique motor racing exhibits. As well as a large number of items from racing legend Jochen Mass, we also have a real treasure in the bequest of Klaus Steinmetz. Pictures, cups, racing suits and lots more items that were witness to an eventful racing career involving brands such as Abarth, Porsche and Opel. The highlight in terms of motor racing history has to be the original crash helmet, including gloves, from the legendary film Le Mans. In the film, the helmet was worn by Swiss actor Fred Haltiner, who played the role of Johann Ritter, and it has been personally signed by 13 members of the original cast.
Fans of Italian sports cars can look forward to countless exhibits from Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati und ISO. As is so often the case, it is the colourful mix of replacement parts, automobilia rarities, sales documents, models, posters, and more besides, that makes this year’s Automobilia Spring Auction so interesting.
Around 3,400 lots will come under the hammer in the two-day auction on 7th and 8th May 2021. The catalogue can now be viewed online or ordered as a bound edition.
