Finding a Deutsch Bonnet sports car in the US is a weird exception. But finding one DB Coupe and one DB Convertible in one go is not of this world. New Jersey based classic car dealer Jerry Bensinger is training his luck every day. And relatively often he produces rare Europen sportscar projects. This set of two is a typical example of a restoration that was started umpteen years ago and never got anywhere near the finish. Something we can perfectly understand as former Panhard PL17 owner. Despite the basic looks of the aircooled twin these are highly complicated machines. No beginner's stuff. How about a crankshaft with ball bearings (you need a 50 ton press to split the crank to exchange bearings). Then conical(!) cylinders for better compression when the cylinder top is hot. And torque valve springs. Etc...Anyway, when you master all that and more these are most rewarding machines. Frontwheel drive with fabulous roadholding. The twin gives amazing power and seems not to like any gas. It's all very modern.
