Earlier this week in the PostWarClassic.com Magazine…
A true pleasure, the Indian summer we are enjoying in this part of the world. A last chance to drive our beloved old cars before winter sets in and they only come out for The 100 Miles of Rotterdam.
While you were driving, you might have missed some very interesting articles, so we have summarized them for you. Enjoy your Sunday!
When going through the PostWarClassic.com market place, we quite often are surprised by the most amazing cars that are around. For example this 1954 Auto Union DKW Karmann Kabriolett. We contacted the seller to find out more about this beautiful and very rare car.
Sure, one of them comes with a 2.4 litre six-in-line pumping out 130hp, while the other one only uses an 800cc four-cylinder, good for 70hp. But both of these late 1960s fastbacks are from Japanese origin. We have our own opinion about these two, but wonder: what is your favourite?
We have asked some knowledgeable people about the picture that was sent over to us, but so far they all drew a blank. What we see is a roadster with swoopy lines and Dutch registration. The number ‘UG-82-27’ only tells us it must have been registered in 1956, but that’s it.
Banger racing was invented after one clever person noticed in the early 1960s that crashes were among the most popular features of a race meeting. So why not come up with a class where crashing became part of the race, with no one to care for the cars..?
The first thing that struck us seeing this lovely picture was that angle. And then we automatically thought San Francisco a split-second later. And, yes indeed, this picture was taken in that city. “San Francisco is still a magical city. If I were a little tougher, I'd put aside that sentimental romanticism. But the city is the people, and that's what persists”
Clearly puzzle #194 wasn't the easiest puzzle we had. We received 5 answers of which 3 are correct. On the back of the card is written by hand: "2L 300 Sport Salmson, Carrosserie Speciale Italienne (modele unique), 13 CV, Vitesse 190/200 km/h".
