Fast Ladies turn Fifty!

Who would have thought back in the 1960s that the British Women Racing Drivers' Club, founded in 1962 by Mary Wheeler MBE (photo above, left), would make an impact in the success of women competing in motorsport? Yet they did and quite successfully too as this year the club is celebrating their 50th anniversary. From a handful of lady racing drivers back in early days the club has expanded to more than 160 members today with sections catering for all kinds of motorsports. Originally BWRDC membership was by invitation only and to FIA International race licence-holders. Nowadays, membership is open to any female holding an MSA National competition licence. We hope they will continue racing for at least another fifty years!
