HRH Prince Michael of Kent GCVO KSrJ, the Patron of Concourse of Elegance was on hand in the Quadrangle of Windsor Castle to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen's 90th birthday. And what a birthday bash it proved to be with a magnificent collection of motor cars on display. Included amongst these were a selection of vehicles from the Royal Household and four of the 11 starters from the 1926 Brooklands Grand Prix.
Here in Europe's longest occupied palace dating back to the early 12th Century and the reign of Henry I, it was possible to see a wide array of cars chronicling the history of the automobile from the 1895 Benz Volo to Touring Superleggera's designer Louis de Fabribecker's 2016 Disco Volante Spyder.
Winner of the Pullman Trophy awarded to the Best in Show was the mind-boggling 1938 Hispano-Suiza H6B Dubbonet Xenia. The quality of the motor vehicles in the quad was surely the equal of anything ever gathered together on anyone's front lawn. Whilst it is hard to look past the gorgeous lines of the ex Gianni Agnelli Ferrari 375 America Pinin Farina or the Jaguar XK120 Ghia Supersonic my favourite was perhaps the humble Radford Mini on display - mind you it does have a pretty special paint job from when it belonged to George Harrison of The Beatles!
