Classic cars are taken very seriously by some of you. Take a look at all those concours judges with their straw hats and bow ties looking for tiny little imperfections on cars that were once raced with no mercy. The owner’s goal is not just to get on that stage and be drenched in gold confetti; it’s about adding value. And so bold race cars of stout drivers become whiny trailer queens of overzealous owners.
This makes it the more refreshing to see there was a time when even concours were taken somewhat more light hearted. The picture above dates back to 1961 and was taken at one such event back in the day. The Aston Martin DB3S Le Mans must have been valued high by at least some, but the owner didn’t seem to matter too much about all that. Bless him – have a laugh!
