Donington Park, the British racing circuit, has had a fabulous history, from the days of the pre-War Silver Arrows GP cars right through to modern times. However, back in 1971 the circuit hadn’t been used for a long time and was in a rather derelict state. It was then bought by Tom Wheatcroft who reopened it for racing in 1977. For many years the circuit was successful, but financial difficulties struck and the circuit’s future became uncertain. Now Kevin Wheatcroft, Tom’s son, will carry on the family tradition by announcing the first annual Historic Festival – a prestigious event for which only the very best race series and the highest-calibre cars and drivers are invited. The inaugural Festival at Donington Park will take place on the Bank Holiday weekend of 30 April to 2 May 2011.
