When -in 1967- we first saw this automobile described in a magazine, it left us truly stunned. It was different from all we had ever seen before: the futuristic shape, the loads of glass, it was really something new. And even today, almost 45 years later, the Lamborghini Marzal is still a real designers icon, a true GT with comfortable seating for four and a high performance 6-cylinder engine. Too bad the Marzal never went in production as Ferruccio Lamborghini objected to the doors, in particular the lower windows mounted below the waistline which would “offer no privacy: a lady’s legs would be there for all to see.”
The Marzal will be one of several concept cars from the Bertone studios to be offered by RM at their auction during the Villa d’Este Concours d’Elegance on May 21st.
