International Art in Perth (Update, not '53 but '56)

There are very few cars that will make it to a museum. Er...that is to say to a non-automobile museum. This 1953(?) International pick-up made it to the - what's in a name -  International Art Gallery in Perth, Australia. The battered truck is used as a 'canvas' and is a witness to the history of aboriginals and the ownership of land in the western outback.

The manager Margot Strasburger added upon our request about the the car:
"“The Ute did its time out in Menzies, WA where the owner at the time was a miner (prospector).  His name escapes me for now but I remember he was born in 1897 and the current driver’s license that was still in the ute is dated 1966 - safe to assume that was when the ute was left out on the station or mining leasehold that the owner.  I believe it sat there until the last owner (a gold prospector & mining engineer) purchased it and brought it back to his property in Toodyay where it sat for seven odd years before we bought it.

It’s a 1950’s series ute (‘56) and International is an American car manufacturer although there was an Australian built Inter series from the 1952 on.  But because we have different wheels on this ute I would assume that it was an American built model and the changes to the tyres which came later would have been Australian. The truck was painted by Reko Rennie.
