Once more the focus was on Ferrari at this year's Pebble Beach concours d'elegance, with whole fields of 250 Testarossas (22 of them!) and other Scaglietti- and Pininfarina bodied coupes and rare roadsters. But we’ve seen quite enough of these now, and rather concentrate on that more understated Italian thoroughbred: Lancia.
However, there were some Lancias on the lawn that screamed for attention instead of being discreet – two of them with a nice slice of competition background. How about this ex-Targa Florio Zagato Flavia Sport Prototype of 1964 in screaming rosso and with odd snorkels on its bonnet? Only the production model is quirkier! Or how about the ex-Carrera Panamericana Lancia in loud livery so typical for the mad Mexican road race? Would you believe us when we say we love them more than all those Testarossas together?
