A lovely request by reader Juerg Weber. He writes: "I am the lucky owner of a Maserati A6GCS, chassis and engine #2087. I am trying to research the history of the car between 1955 until 1963, when my uncle Walter Grell bought it from the Swiss Formula 1 driver Joseph Siffert. I have a Swiss customs receipt issued in Gondo, Switzerland on 22 May 1958. The oldest pictures I have were taken on 20 April 1963 prior to the hill climb 'course de côte Verbois' near Geneva, Switzerland. The driver was R. Savary, who won its class. I saw it the first time in 1970 in the collection of my uncle. In 1973 I convinced my uncle that the car would be in better hands if he would pass it on to me. In the 1980s and 1990s I had the car completely restored. In 1998 I started driving it in oldtimer events in Switzerland and Italy."
"There is a second Maserati A6GCS with chassis and engine #2087, that was recently sold. Maserati experts confirmed that both cars are certainly originals. The fact that my car has been owned by my family since 1963 is a clear clue that it is not a reproduction. I wonder whether you would publish the pictures and ask the readers whether they would recognize the car and know owners between 1955 and 1963. A particularity is the windscreen that was modified prior to 1963. The original shape is still visible. whereas on all other pictures there is the modified version. I highly appreciate you support in this matter. Cheers, Juerg"
