An 'older restoration' Mystery (update: 1950 AutoAr pick-up)

Spotted by Hans Cornelisse in Uruguay, this sad originally US-built(?) sedan. Probably with many conversions since it left the production line in the early fifties. The radiator grill looks like a friday night special. The headlights seem smaller than whatever was there before. Judging the two tone color scheme the wings have been transplanted from another car or at least have benefitted from a partial respray in a distant past. All in all not exactly like the fine british phrasing "the restoration has settled nicely".
