Last week’s article about the Mercedes F1 transporter brought a response from Joop Terpstra. He wrote: “ The Mercedes transporter is impressive but if memory serves me right I think in the 50's Ferrari transported his racecars in OM trucks which were also pretty and they could take of couple of them on their back.” We don’t know about OM but we did photograph this impressive Fiat transporter that was used by Ferrari. It’s a 1957 Typo 642 RN2 and bodied by Carrozzeria Bartoletti of Forli. It could carry six mechanics, had five beds, a lock-up for spares and was able to three cars which are loaded by means of a rear hydraulic ramp. But perhaps before 1957 Ferrari used OM trucks? Who can tell?
