"Motorpit" in France

While driving cross country in the Indre department on a recent trip to France, we noticed 2 aband0ned Peugeot cars. On closer inspection we found a 403 pick up and a later 404, both showing signs of a tough life. Much to our surprise, we also came upon the "motorpit" of this field workshop, complete with some spanners and other rusty tools!
The same weekend, I bought an old magneto at a local swap meet. Back home, while cleaning, I found out that it was a Robert Bosch magneto, type P 22 h2. I'd like to know how old it is and what kind of engines used this magneto type , as it doesn't resemble the motor cycle magnetos I had before.
