R4 pre-production cars used by cowboys

We found some wonderful movie material of the Renault 4 predating the launch of the car in 1961. The R4 was of course Renault’s answer to the Citroen 2CV and turned out to become a hit, too. These moving images were filmed in the Camargue nature park in southern France and show the versatility of the car pretty well.

There is more material online to be found and judging from that it seems the makers tried different themes, one of which was cowboys and Indians, with horses and cows in this desert area galloping along the pre production cars. There is a little ‘making of’ movie here too, with what seems to be a simplified R3 version rather than an R4. We wonder if any of these pre-productio cars survive today..?
