Book review by Michael E. Ware: There are few major British motor manufacturers that have not had a definitive book written about them. Two that spring to mind are Hillman and Standard. Now the latter gap has been filled by well-known author Graham Robson writing on the Standard Motor Company. Published by Veloce this book has been helped by the Michael Sedgwick Memorial Trust (Graham is a well-known writer on matters Triumph so he starts with a good knowledge for what was going on within Standard Triumph). Starting with the original Standard prototype in 1903 this highly illustrated book covers the scores of Standard models built until the brand was discontinued in 1963 (Britain) and 1987 (India).
