You're probably looking at the last car of this make still on the road. It dates from the early fifties and was specially designed for use as a 'working man's' car in a harsh continent. And even more so to break the monopoly of foreign makes. Basically it's a pre-war design by a famous French constructor. Post-war the design was sold to a British company, but when they failed, it was bought by its designer on behalf of the government. Some 120-140 cars were built in roadster, saloon and tourer versions, but soon the project collapsed because the supplier of the bodies failed to meet its contract. Can you tell us the name of the make; who was its creator and on whose design was it based? Then send us your answer (through the comment box below) before Monday, July 2, mention Postwar Puzzle # 39 and please use no more than 100 words. Enjoy your weekend!
