What’s an estimate worth these days?

That's the question we asked ourselves when we saw the auction result of the 1954 Land Rover. Estimated at £50,000-£60,000, it went at Cheffins auction last Saturday for an amazing 129.0000 pounds (158.500 euro or 207.000 US dollars)! True, it was the original Series 1 Land Rover that was given to Sir Winston Churchill by Rover on the occasion of his 80th birthday in November, 1954. And also true, one of Churchill's half-smoked cigars fetched 4500 pounds at an auction in 2010, but we never expected interest in Churchill memorabilia to reach these heights!
