Summer is almost over, and we are looking back to it with pleasure as we are looking forwards to the autumn. This well-known publicity photograph from Triumph is a great reminder of the summer when everything seemed sunny and... well, endless.
We did a little Google search for that particular TR7 'MYE 778P' and found it was a bit more than just a works publicity vehicle. It became a works endurance racer afterwards, repainted in signature British Leyland’s Special Tuning colours, which it still wears to this day.
We also came across this lovely television commercial for the TR7, from America by all means, which emphasized on the car’s wedge shape – the shape of things to come, according to the ad. With some ingenious garages being built for the occasion. Looking back on Triumph’s history and that of the TR7 in particular it is perhaps questionable if they were right. Do you reckon it is a classic after all?
