It’s an age-old discussion about coupes: why pay more for a car that offers less space and functionality? But it goes really well for the duo seen here today: a Bentley T1 of 1968-vintage and a Rolls-Royce Corniche of 1974. They are both for sale at Coys’ Spring Sale on the 12 of this month. Lets start with the T1. With 1,703 saloons produced compared to over ten times that number of Rolls-Royce Silver Shadows, the Bentley could be considered more exclusive. This one wears a lovely coat of deep dark burgundy paint, too, and comes with nicely patinated leather inside and extensive history file. It is estimated to sell for £5- to £8,000, which would absolutely make it an awful lot of motor for your money. See it here.
Over to its counterpart: the Rolls-Royce Corniche. Its body was build by Mulliner and the V8 was somewhat tweaked, leading to a 50% price increase over the standard Shadow when it was new, back in 1974. There’s more. This example – in Shell Grey over blue - has recently undergone an £11,000 ‘refurbishment’ and is said to have covered only 72,000 miles from new. Oh – and it comes with a cherished number plate: KAS III. Now, that all makes it quite a lot more expensive than the Bentley mentioned earlier. Five times more expensive, to be precise: £30- to £35,000 is the estimate. See it here.
