Former Canadian racing driver Pete Schömer is developing a project to bring back the 1958 Kieft V8 back on the road; or maybe even back on the circuits. Base is the Coventry Climax V8 GP machine FPF 2.5 liter Formula 1 engine, developed by Crosthwaite & Gardiner producing around 255 bhp. Further it's making use of a Maserati Birdcage designed 'concept' of their 1959/60 chassis, with DeDion rear suspension center transaxle with 4 speed 'torque tube' mounted gearbox; rear brakes Maserati 250F Alfin drums... up front period Girling discs, and Girling AR competiton alloy calipers; period Koni adjustable shocks. Pete is planning to do a small production of the car that will be as close of a vintage original as possible. We're looking forward to the first outing. More info at Kieft Racing UK.
