The grand reentrance of the long-dormant Maybach brand after a considerable hiatus is as memorable as it was dramatic. Arriving in the United States aboard the Queen Elizabeth 2 encased in glass before being airlifted by helicopter into New York City, the reborn marque made a fittingly spectacular debut at the New York Stock Exchange, immediately redefining expectations for luxury motoring. Among its flagship offerings, the Maybach 57 S (Spezial) combined extraordinary craftsmanship with effortless performance. Named for its 5.7-meter length, the 57 S featured a meticulously hand-finished cabin trimmed with hundreds of individually crafted leather and wood components, creating an atmosphere of unmatched refinement. Many standard features aboard the Maybach 57 S were unobtainable at the time, even on luxury Mercedes-Benz of the era, and this 57 S is a prime example with special "Grand Nappa" leather, multi-spoke 20-inch alloy wheels, driver-operated voice control system, massaging seats, tire pressure monitoring, four-zone climate control, and Keyless Go. Additional options at the time of ordering included folding rear seat tables, front and rear seat climate control, and electrically operated rear door side curtains. With an MSRP of $385,500, these extras pushed the final total just short of $400,000.

This "ultra-performance" 57 model from 2008 benefits from limited use with less than 46,XXX miles, and original Southern California ownership until 2009. During these years the Maybach saw no fewer than seven service visits to Fletcher Jones Motorcars in Newport Beach. In 2009, the clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report records that the car was exported to Saudi Arabia before returning to the United States in 2021 with 42,064 miles. Additional owners followed with servicing at Mercedes-Benz of Pittsburgh, Mercedes-Benz of Cincinnati, and most recently Mercedes-Benz of Pompano at 45,859 miles in December 2025. Work conducted at the Florida dealership, invoiced at $16,650, included a new SAM module, an electrical-system check, and repair and calibration of the soft-close door system. A pre-sale inspection notes that the carbon fiber interior trim is delaminating and cracked in a few locations. Additionally, the 57 S received new batteries and a brake fluid flush.
