Chassis No. WDBEA66E7SC249081
Descended from the beloved 280 SE Coupe and Cabriolet of the 1960s, the E 320 Cabriolet was the marque's last hand-finished open four-seater built on the robust W124 platform. It paired a 3.2-liter, 217-horsepower inline-six and four-speed automatic with an extensively reinforced structure, resulting in a sporting Cabriolet built "not simply to arrive at a destination, but to have savored every moment en route."
This U.S.-market example, chassis 249081, is finished in evocative and extremely rare Imperial Red over Beige leather with a black soft top. The exterior wears a tasteful AMG-look treatment that suits the W124's lines well, with extended front and rear bumpers, side skirts, color-matched AMG Monoblock II wheels, and a lowered ride height that lends an aggressive stance. Inside, the heated, power-adjustable front seats have been nicely recovered, while a trunk mounted CD changer and Continental Classic stereo head unit have been fitted.
According to the accompanying clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report, the Cabriolet was first registered in Florida in 1995, moving to Indiana in 2000 and to Massachusetts by 2003. It then settled in Rhode Island for several years before a move to Connecticut in 2012 and on to Illinois in 2015. In 2021, it was acquired out of Illinois by The Patina Collective and brought to Florida, where it has since been prominently displayed in the collection's History of AMG exhibit.
Accompanied by its wind deflector, jack, and original spare, and showing 71,104 miles at the time of cataloging, this E 320 Cabriolet offers a well-kept and tastefully modified example of Mercedes-Benz's last hand-finished open four-seater.
